George Yohng Vst Wrapper Plugin

  1. VST Instruments created by George Yohng. George Yohng is a pianist, composer and singer based in Vienna, Austria. Also creator of great virtual instruments like 4-Front Piano.
  2. I used Foobar and george yohng's VST wrapper to run the VST plugins i found online. I went through few of them and they were actually for guitar players. Nothing really worked for my ears until i came across these.
  3. VST (Windows, OS X) AudioUnit (OS X) RTAS (Windows, OS X). I apologize for not being able to support ProTools/AAX at this time. Avid/Digidesign people charge $500/year for the permission to distribute AAX plugins, and it feels over the top for a freeware plugin. A comparison to Waves L1 limiter was made on this page.
  4. George Yohng’s W1 Limiter VST W1 Limiter is a clone of Waves L1, with identical output. Release curve simplified Release time multiplied 3 times (see notes below) Softening circuit filter changed Waves L1 famous limiter (and thus W1 – for compatibility reasons) uses three times longer actual release time than standard RT60 metric.
  5. VST, AudioUnit, RTAS support (no AAX yet). Lenovo ThinkPad T530/W530 speaker quality driver released Nov 13 2012 A driver is available to improve speaker quality on Lenovo ThinkPad T530 (also W530, T510/W510, T520/W520).
  6. Search results showing audio plugins for all operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS and Android), tagged as VST Wrapper. The results are sorted by date added (newest first).
I'm new to Audacity. I'm using OS X 10.8.2, Audacity 2.0.4, I used the .dmg installer

Jan 19, 2013 Finally a VST adapter that feels like foobar2000 itself, rather than the ugly hacks that are the current ones. To manage VSTs 'outside' foobar2000 as George Yohng's VST wrapper does seems to have the advantage that no application restart is necessary after having added new ones (I leave aside here the possibility to use an universal wrapper like Acon's EffectChainer).

I am trying to use Audacity to make sure my audio book narration files meet the specs required by ACX (Audible.com). I submitted a sample mp3 file created on Garage Band to Audible and they said :' ACX requires all final audio submissions to measure between -23 and -18 dB RMS with peaks at -3 dB. For reference, your sample measures around -26 dB RMS with the highest peak at around -1 dB. Your overall level needs to increase while your peaks need to decrease. As a simple solution, I would recommend applying a brickwall limiter. You can set the output ceiling control to -3dB, ensuring that all audio that passes will not go above that level. Next you will adjust your threshold. The threshold setting is dependent upon the audio you are processing as well as the plug-in that is being used so I can’t give you a specific setting. As a ballpark guess, I would say start by setting the threshold to around -9 or -10 dB'
In a followup e mail they suggested I use Audacity but that I needed to install a limiter and they recommended the 4Front W1 Limiter. A search identified this file was located at http://www.yohng.com/software/w1limit.html and was called 'George Yohng's W1 Limiter.component' I downloaded and attempted to install this file using the instructions in the attached Read Me Text. They have several alternative installation methods and I tried them all. Nothing worked. The plug-in did not show up on Audacity.Am I correct that if this plug-in is installed properly it should appear in the EFFECTS column?
What am I doing wrong or is there a better method or plug-in to help me master my Garage Band created mp3 files so they meet AXC's specs?
