Hi,
I've owned a 16.0.2 mixer now for a few years and use it for my live covers band. It's a great mixer. I've read a lot about sending channels out the aux and adding effects then sending them back to a spare channel.
The issue with my band is that we use all the aux output for our personal in ear mixes.
Is there a way to take the digital firewire signal, apply real time effects and send it back to the same channel??
For example, I might send Channel 1 (Vocals) to my PC, apply some Auto-Tune, then send it back to Channel 1....
Thanks!

Yes, that's how the firewire sends and returns work. The mixer sends all its analog inputs to the computer, the computer can then return to the same channel (provided that the firewire button for that channel is engaged). The Dig Out button determines per channel if channel FAT is before send (Dig Out on) or after return (Dig Out off).

Ok figured it out. Very easy and powerful. Never using the onboard effects again!!
Not sure why this capability isn't advertised a little more.

Yup! The only possible problem is latency. You want a snappy DAW and small buffers.
To sidestep latency (or for stereo effects) you can also return only the 100% wet part of the effect(s) from the computer to the mixer, to a different mixer channel. Then do the dry/wet mixing on the mixer. A little latency on an effect doesn't hurt.

Interesting. We tend to use most of the channels already. I was playing with studio one just now and the latency seems pretty small. Around 4ms.
I think auto tune plugin is the killer though. One I was using apparently adds 10ms by itself

I might throw another question out to this forum.
I'm a big fan of reaper. So far, it seems that Reaper is not that optimized to work with the 16.0.2
The problem is the there is a lot of latency, as opposed to using Studio One which is fantastic.
Does any one use Reaper for live monitoring with FX using the 16.0.2 and know how to get this latency down?
The reason I like reaper is because I already own it, and it has full VST support. Otherwise I'm going to have to upgrade my Studio 2 to get the VST add-on
